We wanted to arrive at the wharf a little before 7:00 (2 hours before the Bikoi left) so we could find a good place to place our mat. We were running a little bit late, so we arrived at the wharf a little before 7:30. The place was packed! We jumped on board with all of our stuff and quickly got settled in our usual place, then the boat's whistle blew to signal the departure. Turns out, the boat was leaving at 8:00!
The water was glassy for almost all of our six hour ride (so much that we ended up with sunburns!), and we saw dolphins as we rounded the tip of Guadalcanal. Lots of flying fish as usual as we neared the Russell Islands. We got a great reception from our neighbors when we arrived, and they helped us carry up the many boxes that we brought.
After church, many of the ladies stayed around and storied with us, and it was so nice to reconnect with our friends. We were gone so long that they thought we had gone back to America!
Our garden blossomed while we were gone. Our friends harvested the melons, chinese cabbage, tomatoes, and green beans while we were gone. The umalau (sweet potato) is ready now, and the obikola (cassava) will be ready soon. The manioco (papaya) trees have grown so much! There are baby papaya already growing.
As soon as I find the camera, I'll try to post some pictures.
