Please Pray for Rain

Dear Friends,

At yesterday’s radio sked Aaron asked if everyone would please pray that they would receive rain.  Their water tanks have water in them, but all of the other tanks in the village and in some of the surrounding villages do not have water.  As they are approaching a big weekend with a lot of people coming, the water needs for the village will greatly increase.  Please pray that God will send them some rain to fill all of the tanks before the guests arrive.

Sincerely,

Andy Pierce

Choate Update

Dear Friends of the Choates,
Unfortunately we are still having a lot of trouble with the radio email program.  That is preventing the Choates from keeping in contact with everyone as much as they would enjoy.  We are continuing to work on that situation.

The Choates are doing well in the village.  This past weekend a MK (missionary kid) friend of Sarah and her mother went out to their village to spend Sarah’s birthday together.  It was a wet and windy time, but everyone still enjoyed it.  Sarah had a good birthday.  She made herself a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and sprinkles.  They didn’t get to go swimming in the ocean due to the wind and rain, but she said she enjoyed her day.

Next week is election week here in the Solomon Islands.  There are a lot of “big men” coming to their village over the weekend.  Joanna will be helping with some of the cooking for them.  Aaron is hoping that he will have a chance to meet with them about the translation project.  Please keep them in your prayers as they have a busy weekend ahead of them.

As always, if you have any questions or comments or any information to pass along to the Choates please feel free to write to deputy.solomon.islands@sil.org and I will pass that along at the daily radio sked.
Sincerely,
Andy Pierce

Guests to arrive

Dear all,

As of radio sked yesterday afternoon, the Choate family is doing well.  They are enjoying their stay out in the village.  This weekend they will have 3 visitors joining them for a couple of days.  One is a school teacher who has been working with the other missionary kids here in Honiara.  The other two are the adult children of another missionary family.  These visitors will get to see what the Choate’s life is like in the village.  They will be taking out the Choate’s mail as well as some fruits and veggies.  It should be a good visit for them.

Sincerely,

Andy Pierce

Choate Family in the Village

Dear followers of the Choate family blog,

The Choates would like me to pass on the information that they have arrived safe and sound in their village.  They have washed the plates and other items that have been stored while they were here in town.  They are easing back into their life in the village.

They are currently experiencing some difficulties with one of the radio-email cables that they have.  My spare cable is at the store getting a new end attached to it, so I am not able to send one out quickly.  Please bear with them as they are not able to communicate with you at this time.  I have radio contact with them every day at 4:30pm.  If you have any messages that you would like for me to pass along, please let me know.  My email address is: deputy.solomon.islands@sil.org Hopefully we will get this problem taken care of soon.

Sincerely,

Andy Pierce
