Unexpected treats...

A few days ago we received an e-mail with an unexpected surprise.  One of our SITAG colleagues who is home in Canada on furlough was coming to Dallas!  So, last night we enjoyed catching up with him and looking at pictures of his family enjoying the snow.

Our dessert chef-in-residence made us some yummy almond-cornmeal strawberry shortcakes with the strawberries we picked earlier this week.

This morning, we picked up some non-perishable food items to drop off at the post office (since we don't have a mailbox) for the Stamp Out Hunger food drive sponsored by the National Association of Letter Carriers.

And we received another unexpected treat this morning.  Dear friends are in Dallas, and could we join them for a little bit?  Flexibility is our middle name, so we're walking out the door now...

I am so thankful that God keeps putting little "treats"into life for you in these last months here in the US. Time to be encouraged, to worship and celebrate with others! Sending you hugs my friend!

S! Your shortcakes look gorgeous and SO scrumptious! I can only imagine what you could do with the ripe cherries we have in our fridge. I so wish you were here to help me think of something creative and yummy to do with them.
O! Ask your Mama to tell you the banana story and show you the picture. B! Wish we could play some Ping-Pong! K! Our piano is quiet and lonely without you here - and please tell your siblings that the turtle family is all out and about! Babies, teenagers and parents EVERYWHERE! A! Praying for you as you help your family prepare to head back to SI. J! Love you so much! Happy Mama's Day to one of the rockin'est Mamas we know! And happy early birthday to you!
Lots of love,
Jayla
