Weekend Wonders

Our weekend got off to a great start!  Friday night, we enjoy playing Quiddler with Henk and Margreet while we waited for supper to cook.  Even though their visit to the Solomons began a little rough with lost luggage and rotten eggs, we're so thankful they are here.  They are chugging through the SITAG "to-do" list, a huge blessing!  But they would still be a blessing even if they weren't doing anything to help, they are just those kind of people.

Sarah normally wins when we play Quiddler, she's a whiz at rearranging the letters.  But the cards she was holding this time certainly presented a challenge.

Her delicious and beautiful chicken pot pie lifted everybody's spirits.

Saturday morning, we enjoyed a sweet radio sched with our friends out in the village, and we opened two fabulous care packages, one from a church in Florida and one from a friend in Texas.  Wow, did we ever feel loved!  Sharing bags of chocolate chips with our colleagues is one of our favorite things to do.  The rest of the day we just chipped away at our lists, market shopping, school planning, and cooking for the week ahead.  We finished the lovely day by sharing a meal with some colleagues.

We started today by attending the 6 a.m. service at church, I really like the quiet and dark start to the day, and we were home in plenty of time to enjoy a nice long "Jesus Time" and two mugs of coffee after church.  Then this afternoon we celebrated Margreet's 60th birthday with one of Sarah's famous chocolate chip cheesecakes.  Had to find some way to use those chocolate chips!

And now the lovely weekend is winding down, and I can hear shouting coming from the little basketball court nestled in the side of the hill.

I don't know if we'll have time to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday or not, but maybe we can squeeze some "oobleck" into our evening.  God has been gracious to give us a full but restful weekend, full of time with Him and time with friends.

Gee - Sarah almost has enough letters for "quinquireme" - came up in Gunnar's language lesson today! Such an adorable sad face ;D
