Sweet Sabbath

"God is able to make every grace overflow to you so that in every way, always having everything you need, you may excel in every good work."  2 Corinthians 9:8

Overflowing this weekend as God pours his grace out on us:

-Getting to hang out with this amazing young man and serving as his adopted family this weekend while he is in between his family in the village and school back in the States (Can you find him in this photo from his arrival at the wharf?)

-Worshipping in Honiara early this morning inside while watching the sunrise and creation worship outside

-Listening to Claude Bolling's Suite for Cello & Jazz Piano Trio while unpacking school books this afternoon

-Eating supper and visiting with two of our Lavukal translators, Ezekiel and Simon, who dropped by unexpectedly tonight and tried my American food.  Thankful I had taken down local food to share last night!

It is SO good to see you reunited with Ezekiel and Simon again! They have the best smiles and kindest expressions. I only wish I could have seen those upon your initial reunion! Thank you for sharing!!!

Love,

Jayla

So glad you guys are settling in and even entertaining. You will have to share more about what food people eat there. You made me curious. I love how you so readily exercise your gifts of hospitality and making people comfortable.

Leslie,
Saturday night, we cooked fish, pumpkin leaves and local potatoes in coconut milk with salt and curry. We got rave reviews (and we like it, too!).

Sunday night, we cooked Chinese cabbage and pasta in a cream sauce (with garlic bread crumbs on top)and pumpkin with lime, freshly grated ginger, and honey. We also made peach cobbler for dessert because we found cans of peaches on half price. Our translators still enjoyed it :-)

Lifting up Ezekiel, especially the pain in his abdomen. And for his wife, and her the health of her legs. May the Son give healing and restoration, for the sake of His hly name!

I smile uncontrollably when I read about your family's endeavors. Love you much!

I love the blog entries! Thank you for giving us such personal glimpses into your lives there. We too love hearing about the foods you eat. :o) We have also been praying for Ezekiel and Simon's health issues as well. Love from all the Donnelly's!
