My heart's adoration

from "Epiphany" by Reginald Heber

Say, shall we yield Him, in costly devotion,
Odors of Edom, and offerings diving --
Gems of the mountain, and pearls of the ocean --
Myrrh from the forest, and gold from the mine?

Guess who found the hidden almond?

Vainly we offer each ample oblation,
Vainly with gold would His favor secure;
Richer by far is the heart's adoration,
Dearer to God are the prayers of the poor.

Next year we will celebrate Epiphany again. It didn't happen this year. I was just too under the weather. I do feel it's a very important part of the Christmas season though.

Blessings!
