Although most of the apples weren't ripe yet, we each got to pick an apple to enjoy at Henrietta Creek Orchard.
We learned about bees and some of the good things they do for gardens and orchards, as well as watching cotton go from the boll, through carding and spinning, and finish as a beautifully woven rug.
Farmer Sue, a Master Gardener, keeps a lovely veggie garden,
a butterfly garden,
and a pizza garden among the lines of apple trees.
We also got to observe the apples we picked going through the apple washer.
Being immersed in autumn weather and all of the things it brings (like apples) brings us such delight! We appreciate the changing of seasons so much more now.
A big thanks to all of the families who joined our group for the field trip. We're looking forward to going back to Henrietta Creek Orchard in a few weeks when the apples are ready to pick!

Ooh...would they be ready to pick, say, around the 25th of October or so? A certain aunt and cousin want to know.
What a lovely day at the orchard! Though I'm cracking up (and teasing you)... if the girls can still wear tops with spaghetti straps, you are not immersed in fall weather!! ;D
