Sweet Sabbath

"Knowing your personality and your sensitivities does not excuse you from ministry.  It means you need to prepare for it differently than others might...Hospitality shares what there is; that's all.  It's not entertainment.  It's not supposed to be."  ~Rosaria Butterfield, "The Gospel Comes With a Housekey"

What a sweet celebration of two birthdays and the beginning of a new school year!  We've gathered together in years past, especially because Sarah shares a birthday with this sweet colleague of ours.  These guys are always gracious guests, something is often wonky whenever they come over to share a meal.  This time one of the crockpots had gotten unplugged for a couple of hours.  So we started on one of the containers of macaroni and cheese while the other one continued to cook.  We love watching families be blessed with the addition of children and the joy they bring!

Crockpot Cheese and Macaroni

1 small box elbow macaroni
3 cups cheddar cheese
1 can evaporated milk
1 1/2 cups homogenized milk
3 eggs
1/2 stick butter
salt and pepper

Cook macaroni according to directions on box.  Grease slow cooker with butter.  Mix all ingredients in slow cooker, cook on high for 30 minutes, then turn on low and cook for 2 hours. (I find that our family likes the edges on the brown side, so we cook it for longer.)
