Full Circle

I was not a good teacher.  But I loved the three years I spent in the classroom.  And I think I would be a much better educator now.  Teachers make such an impact on their students. 



On the way home from Kansas City last Sunday, my mom and I stopped to visit my former orchestra teacher (isn't she the cutest?!?).  This is one of the most amazing women I know.  She influenced my life by teaching me how to play the cello and conducting my orchestra for six years, but she also gave me life and relationship coaching.  Aaron and I consider Jill our first pre-marriage counselor.  Sharing a stand builds relationship skills!  Jill has always gone way above and beyond the classroom as she invests in her students.  After I had Sarah, Jill found a lovely set of canvas luggage embroidered with Sarah's name and bought it.  Sarah still uses the luggage.  I always wanted to be a teacher like her.



 

Imagine my surprise Tuesday afternoon in the halls of the local university when I heard, "Mrs. Choate?" and see this good looking young man addressing me!  He is a former student - funny, talented, and working on his masters degree in music.  He will also be assisting the Voices of Central Arkansas, the children's choir in which all four of my children will participate.  Music education coming full circle, even if I did teach for only three years in the classroom.
