"When we abandon our hearts to the Author of Life, when we empty ourselves of expectation and surrender our stories to His divine imagination -- He is free to script an adventure that is filled with immeasurably more than we could ask or imagine."
Two love birds crossing the English Channel - that's how I would caption this picture. During this choir tour in Europe, Aaron gave me a promise ring. Then, on January 13 the next year, he asked me to marry him by putting another rock on my finger. We love celebrating our love and our commitment to each other, and our "proposal-versary" isn't just an excuse to eat rocky road ice cream.
"What counts in making a happy marriage is not so much how compatible you are, but how you deal with incompatibility."
~Leo Tolstoy
Our proposal-versary is a reason to celebrate. Just like the children of Israel took stones and built altars to remember what God had done in their lives, Aaron and I take the opportunity to celebrate God taking an ESFJ and an INTP and molding them into one complete unit. We look back in awe at the difficulties God has brought us through. I gaze at my husband in admiration at his tenacity for sticking with me and doing the hard work of being married and continuing to build trust between the two of us.
"So when it comes to that bond of trust between you, there is no room to take it for granted, no room to let things slide, and no room to passively hope for the best. No, you get up every day, and you work to protect the good things that God has enabled to grow between you." ~Paul David Tripp
And then, you go eat Rocky Road ice cream.
