Texas Woman's Daybook

Just for today...Tuesday, May 14

Outside my window...an absolutely gorgeous day.  Temps around 90 and blue skies.  Our friends think we're crazy for having the windows open!  The pool opens next week, and we plan to be there almost every afternoon to get our "water legs" back.

On my bookshelf... "Love and Respect" by Emerson Eggerichs.  Wow, it's opening my eyes.  Thanks again, Gayly, for keeping me supplied with great books!

One of my favorite things...Mrs. Meyer's Basil Countertop Spray.  Especially since Target had several Mrs. Meyer's products half off!

Pondering these words...When you preach the gospel, do not say "God has a wonderful plan for your life."  Tell people, "Jesus is worth dying for."  ~Yuce Kabakci

From the kitchen...since our trip to Scasta Farm, we've had a blast in the kitchen trying new recipes like Buttery Shrimp and Radish Pasta, Chicken Paillards with Chickpea Relish and Arugula, and Whole-Wheat Spaghetti with Meyer Lemon, Arugula, and Pistachios.  They sound fancy and hard, but they are really simple and oh so yummy.

From the learning rooms...1960s, so lots of great picture books like "One Giant Leap: The Story of Neil Armstrong" by Don Brown, "Bon Appetit! The Delicious Life of Julia Child" by Jessie Hartland, "Sit In:  How Four Friends Stood Up by Sitting Down" by Andrea Davis Pinkney, and "My Uncle Martin's Big Heart" by Angela Farris Watkins.

A few plans for the rest of the week...a fun supper with friends who serve through Bible translation in  Africa tonight, and they are cooking us an African meal!  Later this week, precious friends and kindred spirits will be staying with us for several days, and we can hardly wait.
