Honiara Woman's Daybook

For today...Monday, April 16

Outside my window...sunshine and a nice breeze.  I can't see the ocean from our current SITAG house, and I miss my ocean view.  A spider has built a huge web on our clothesline.  It's been fun to watch its "buffet" grow!

I am thinking...about my "baby" sister who will turn 25 this week.  Rachel, you're making me feel old!

I am thankful for...friends and family who are expressing excitement about our return.  Four years is a long time to be apart.

From the kitchen...tonight we're serving spaghetti pie to friends who are leaving on furlough tomorrow

I am wearing...a white skirt with a purple blouse and white shell necklace

I am reading..."Raising a Modern Day Princess" by Pam Ferrel and Doreen Hanna.  Not sure what I think about it.  I've only made it half way through the book, but I'm shocked at how much girls are encouraged to focus on the outside with makeup, jewelry, & clothes.  Maybe I've just been living overseas too long.

I am hoping...that God provides a house in Arkansas for us soon

Something I want to remember for later...when I walked in the door from exercising this morning and Katherine exclaimed, "Mama, do you want coffee kisses?!?"

I am creating...lists for furlough (clothes we need to buy, grocery lists to fill up the pantry, school curriculum, etc.)

I am hearing...the generator running.  Since we've been back, electricity in Honiara has been off more than it has been on.

Pondering these words..."Knowing all that God promises to be for us in Christ both now and for endless ages to come, with ever increasing joy, frees us from the compulsion that we must avoid pain and maximize comfort in this world."  ~John Piper

Around the house...two piles in Benjamin's bedroom with signs over them.  One of them says:  "Going to America.  AAAAHHHHH!"

One of my favorite things...hearing my kids sing.  I know I've said it before, but when I step out of the shower and hear the rest of the family warming up for our evening singing, it makes my heart melt.  Sarah's soprano just pipes up over everybody else and soars.

A few plans for the rest of the week...later today, a meeting with colleagues to figure out why our Sabers won't work, taking friends to the airport tomorow, picking up Ezekiel at the wharf on Wednesday for he and Aaron to work together for the rest of the week

Here is a picture I am sharing with you...crazy friends
